FAQ

Hello interweb.
I recently just finished my freshman year at college. FAQ's I have gotten in the last day include: what was you're favorite part about you're freshman year? Are you happy to be done for the summer? What are you're summer plans? WELL let me tell you!
First off my freshman year was the biggest learning experience of my life so far I believe. I thought I knew what I was getting into. It's college. The stuff you see in the movies, yeah, that's it. Nope. My experience was quite different. I had a hard time meeting close friends. I was confused, heartbroken, stressed, sad, happy, grateful, and most of all scared. So many things happened my freshman year of college that I wasn't expecting. I thought everything would be awesome; school would come easy and the transition would be a breeze. For some people this might be the case, in which you are lucky. For me however, I had a much more bumpy ride. Not to say that it wasn't good. I am so thankful to have had this year to learn and grow. In some ways I feel like coming into college I was so innocent, feeling as though life was so easy and fun. Now after my first year I see the world differently and I feel as though I am now a little jaded. This again is not a bad thing, it means I am growing and learning.
With all of that said, my favorite part about my freshman seems not to stick out as anything in particular. I had many great experiences. I was on the Ellen show (in the background), I went to some parties and learned some new games, I had long talks with my roommate and experienced my first year with my best friend. I honestly couldn't ask for a greater experience. As for the summer question, YES! I could not be happier that I have a three month break to relax, restore, and enjoy life. This year has taught me that family is EVERYTHING. When you feel as though you have nothing, you have family. I am so blessed to be able to say this. They have always been there for me and always will be and I couldn't ask for more. Lastly, what are my plans for summer you ask? I will be traveling to Alaska (my home) for a month in a little less than a week. During my time in Alaska I will be in my oldest sister's wedding. SO EXCITED. I will also be hiking and spending quality time with my best friends; Madison, Kathryn, and Mackenzie! Those are my big plans for the summer and as for the rest of it I plan to me a gypsy and travel places and explore.
Well there ya go! my FAQ's answered! Thank you for reading.

HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE

DEAD WEEK

Coffee, homework, dead week.
I really wonder why they call the week before finals week "DEAD WEEK"... Seems morbid. I am everything but dead this week. I am so excited about this summer and what adventures I will be going on this summer. Can this really be the end of my freshman year of college though? YES. I do believe that I have put my time in as a freshman and am ready to face the new challenges I'm sure sophomore year will have for me. This year was full of experiences good and bad. I have lived in the dorms... enough said about that. I have met some new friends. I have lived the college party scene and found that it isn't all its cracked up to be. I have come to find I am not a big partier and would much rather be in the comforts of my family and friends than be around a bunch of drunk girls and guys my age. This doesn't surprise me. I have always been a much "Older soul" than most people my age. Always choosing the safer route than being risky and taking chances. This has its pros and cons but it's who I am and I like it! Who knows what I will be like next year but for now I am content.

Happy Easter!

This was a very different Easter than most... I am away at school, I don't have any family around, and I don't have a nice big home to come back to and eat Easter dinner at. In fact it is the complete opposite of Easters in the past. I am happy to say this was a wonderful Easter though. My roommates, best friend and I went to this church in Corvallis called Grace City. It was one of the best sermons I've ever heard. It truly inspired me and I completely got lost in the pastors words. It is a christian church but it's like one I've never experienced before. The people were very young and the worship team was all very youthful and "hip":) I will definitely be going back. After the wonderful church service we had breakfast at a place across the street called The Broken Yolk a hot spot for college students and Corvallis residents alike.
I ordered the Hobo Hash, not exactly on my diet but I figured since it was easter I could treat myself. We then walked back to campus where I immediately changed from my nice spring easter dress to leggings and a comfy grey shirt. I am so blessed to have people around me to spend this day with. Even though I am not with my sisters or my mom and dad I know that I will see them soon! I hope every one of you had a joyous day that you will remember for many easters to come. God Bless

FIRST LEASE

Hi blog readers!
I hope you're all having a fantastic week. So far my week is going great and I can't wait to see what the rest of the days have in store. Today I signed my first lease for next year with two other lovely girls. I am happy that the searching is done and we finally have a place we can call home next year. I'm so excited to have my own kitchen. A place where I can cook and bake... Hopefully I'll do lots of that! Tonight I was just thinking how I got to where I am today and I was getting all sentimental up in my brain. THAT'S being a girl for ya! I am so thankful for my parents who help me every single day. I was also thinking about my precious nana... she went to heaven in January. Without her I wouldn't even be alive so thats important but she made such a big impact on my life and I miss her so much. So yeah.. I guess that's what you get when you sign your first lease hahahaha. Oh and you are probably wondering where that picture came from up there. My roommate took pictures of me and our other roommate for a project she was doing and I really liked how they turned out! Thanks for listening to me rant about life:)

Have a great week!

Randomness that is my life!

While at lunch I saw this little ditty on the bulletin board and thought it was very adorable along with having a great message. For many students getting ready to go to a university or college of any kind this is a very important message to always remember. I am still working on this seeing as though I am a freshman in college; however, I believe it could not be more true! Whatever you're doing in your life I think following your dreams is the greatest accomplishment you can tell people when you're older. Most people want money, fame and richness... I know I'm young but I know one thing for sure: you're will become rich by doing what you love and working hard. Now imagine working hard but not doing what you love, that would suck! You might be rich in terms of money but in terms of life you would be missing something that you may never be able to find... that seems like a scary path to go on for me.
Sorry this post is a little random... I am now back at school and this is the last term for me as a freshman! Yippeeeeeee. I am currently really liking my classes so far. The only class I have yet to go to is my yoga class, which is tomorrow! I just bought a new yoga mat at TJ Maxx for CHEAP... like $7.99 I believe and I can't wait to test it out! Because this blog post is so random with no real theme I will sign off now in hopes I will get better at blogging. REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY MY SECOND WEEK BLOGGING! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week and thanks again for reading...

I see a theme here... CANDLES!

Carly here! Second day on my blog and I think I'm just going to tell you what I did today! Its the last weekend of my spring break then I'm back to Oregon State University where I study nutrition. I'm not too excited about going back... so I'm trying to soak as much time with my mom and dad as I can before I get back to the books! Today I slept in and then watched some Kathy Lee and Hoda with my breakfast of greek yogurt and a banana. Then I took a nice shower with this Sonoma Cinnamon and Spice candle, yummmm!
I then took a trip to see my mom at the thrift shop she volunteers at! We got some lunch at a delicious Hawaiian Cafe in Bend, Oregon. We went to the Humane Society of Central Oregon where there were the cutest little pups and kittens... quite sad though:( I wish I could take them all back with me! Here's the link to the humane societies web site if you want to check it out! Humane Society Of Central Oregon Site The Place is very nice and the animals are all treated very well although they would be much more happy if they had a loving family... Check it out! After the Humane Society I took off on my own to go to one of my favorite stores!! World Market. I love the fun things they have there, from food, clothes, stationary, furniture, ect... IT'S AWESOME! I found some candles to brighten up my room that I'm only in for another three days:( But look how cute the candles are:) Adorbs.
So now I'm just relaxing in my room and I'm about to have some eats that my mom made! The perks of being home... no dining hall food! Thanks for reading I really appreciate it.

Talk soon!
